Rheinmetall Automotive sector is a tier one supplier to the automotive industry and operates in North America under the brands Kolbenschmidt and Pierburg. Pierburg Pump Technology specializes in manufacturing various types of engine pumps, such as oil pumps, vacuum pumps, water circulation pumps, and coolant pumps. All types of pumps are subject to continuous development and offer our customers a wide range of individual solutions for all engine applications.

Founded in 1996, Pierburg US, LLC manufactures components in the air supply and emissions control segments within Rheinmetall Automotive. The 100,000 ft² assembly plant producing EGR systems, byopass valves, components for electric throttle control, and recirculation valves is located in Fountain Inn, South Carolina.

The KS Kolbenschmidt US, Inc. facility in Marinette, Wisconsin, was founded in 1944 as an aluminum piston manufacturer. Today, it is a leading manufacturer of aluminum and steel pistons for internal combustion engines of passenger cars and medium- and heavy-duty applications. It is well-known for its advanced piston design and manufacturing technology for gasoline and diesel engines. Increasing the power density and achieving further reductions in fuel consumption and emissions are two of the driving factors when developing new piston concepts for the Kolbenschmidt brand.

KS Gleitlager North America LLC is Rheinmetall Automotive’s specialist for high-precision sliding elements. The introduction of new technologies in production and surface treatment, innovative development work, and a clear customer orientation have made KS Gleitlager one of the world's leading suppliers of metal plain bearings and metal polymer bearings (Permaglide®).

The large-bore pistons division of KS Kolbenschmidt GmbH is one of the world’s major producers and offers optimal solutions for steel and aluminum pistons in diameters ranging from 150 to 640 mm for all applications. One of the three production sites is located in Marinette, Wisconsin. The portfolio extends from monobloc aluminum pistons, spheroidal graphite monobloc and composite pistons with bottom parts made of aluminum, spheroidal graphite iron and steel, through to new developments in the area of articulated and steel pistons.

American Rheinmetall Defense, Inc. in Reston, Virginia, represents Rheinmetall Defence in the USA with the following operating companies:

American Rheinmetall Systems, LLC in Biddeford, Maine, is a mechanical and electro-optical engineering company specializing in sophisticated system integration, assembly, and R&D, working in close cooperation with customers worldwide. Some of the products include fire-control systems, laser aiming devices, laser range finders, and weapons improvement packages.

American Rheinmetall Munition Inc. (ARM) , headquartered in Stafford, Virginia, operates as a leading medium-caliber supplier in the U.S. market. ARM produces training and combat ammunition as well as effect ammunition for the US armed forces. At its plant in East Camden, the ARM owns local production capacities in which most of the ammunition is manufactured.

American Rheinmetall Vehicles, LLC (ARV), located in Sterling Heights, Michigan, specializes in combat vehicle platforms and provides next generation products to the US Department of Defense, as well as Federal and State Law Enforcement agencies. ARV offers both tracked and wheeled combat vehicle platforms with associated sub-systems and works in conjunction with the USMC and US Army program offices to ensure all products meet specification and performance requirements for programs of interest.
