Rheinmetall Laingsdale (Pty) Ltd. is a leader in mechanical precision equipment for defence applications. Located in Cape Town, South Africa, Rheinmetall Laingsdale is jointly owned by Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH (51%) of Germany and Rheinmetall Denel Munition (Pty) Ltd of South Africa. Capabilities ranging from design, development, prototyping, in-house assembly and test capabilities and large-volume series production of complex parts and assemblies established the company as one of the leading fuze manufacturers in the world. The mechanical fuze range includes products for 40 mm grenades, 76 mm naval ammunition, 76 mm and 105 mm armour ammunition, 105 mm and 155 mm artillery ammunition and 60, 81 and 120 mm mortar bombs.
Rheinmetall Denel Munition (Pty) Ltd. (RDM) is jointly owned by Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH of Germany and Denel (Pty) Ltd. South Africa. RDM specialises in developing, designing and manufacturing large- and medium-calibre ammunition families and is a world leader in the field of artillery, mortar and infantry systems as well as plant engineering. Rheinmetall and its South African unit are able to draw on an expanded product portfolio when serving their respective core markets. The RDM product portfolio encompasses, for example, ammunition and metal components, minefield breaching systems, 40 mm infantry ammunition and pyrotechnics and artillery ammunition.
