RBSL is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where early career professionals can thrive and reach their full potential. The next generation of talent is cultivated through an award-winning apprenticeship scheme, engaging STEM activities, varied work experience and interesting project assignments. Progress of apprentices is regularly monitored, providing feedback and coaching to support their growth and development within RBSL.
RBSL have a community of STEM Ambassadors that volunteer their time to support activities that inspire the next generation and help young people to develop the skills, confidence and mindset to build successful futures.
Colleagues work to connect young people to real-life careers in STEM by attending local schools to give presentations, inviting Cadet groups to RBSL sites to see the people and production lines at RBSL first hand, and attend career fairs and exhibitions across the country.

“It's the people I work with that make RBSL a great place to work. Every team I have been in since working at RBSL have been welcoming and have shared knowledge with me that has helped me to develop as an engineer. There is a strong and proud Armed Forces community at RBSL. Many colleagues say that their experience in the Forces helps them in their work as they have a closer understanding of those who use our products and services.
RBSL recognise the value of the transferable skills and experience of those that have served in the Armed Forces. Veterans are actively encouraged to work with RBSL, for example by working with specialist recruitment agencies and promoting RBSL as a potential employer to those near to leaving service. Encouragement and support is also given to those colleagues serving as Reservists and as Adult Cadet Force Volunteers.
An advocate for supporting veterans, cadets, reservists and their families throughout the business, RBSL has signed the Armed Forces Covanant and is a recipient of the Gold award in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.
