Our story
Rheinmetall Defence Australia Pty Ltd is a subsidiary of Rheinmetall Group, a mobility and security technology group headquartered in Düsseldorf, Germany. Our company has a rich history that spans more than 130 years and is recognised as a global leader in security and mobility technology, delivering products and solutions for the Commonwealth of Australia as it modernises Defence capability across land, sea and air domains.
We are a trusted partner to the Australian Defence Force and New Zealand Defence Force and we specialise in:

Our ties to the Australian Government date back to more than 40 years ago through the provision of munitions. Today, we are proud to be the largest supplier of military vehicles to the Australian Defence Force. We are growing our Australian footprint to deliver system solutions and capability in the areas of mobility, lethality, reconnaissance, protection and sustainment during this important time in the life of the nation’s defence industry.
Our locations
Rheinmetall Defence Australia has operations in Adelaide, Canberra, Melbourne, Townsville as well as Wellington in New Zealand and is headquartered at the state-of-the-art Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence (MILVEHCOE) in Redbank, Queensland.
The MILVEHCOE site is a one-of-a-kind facility that hosts an operational manufacturing production hall, warehouse, test track, weapons and munitions firing tunnel, EMC chamber, electronics engineering and administration buildings, a fully catered cafeteria and training auditorium.
Rheinmetall NIOA Munitions is our site based in Maryborough, Queensland and is part of Rheinmetall’s joint venture with NIOA. Rheinmetall NIOA Munitions, produce ammunition in Australia in support of the Australian Defence Force’s Boxer Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle, and other military programs.
