About the Team

Located in Redbank in Ipswich, the project quality engineering team is responsible to ensure that product aligns to contractual requirements and specification.    

About the Role

The Quality Manager – Planning & Assurance is responsible for developing, reviewing and maintaining project plans and quality management plans. Coordinating with project teams and stakeholders (including the customer) to ensure compliance with quality, technical specifications and contractual requirements. Preparing and participating in project status reviews and product / process audits. Developing and implementing quality plans to facilitate vehicle or product handover to the customer.

As Quality Manager – Planning & Assurance, you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:

  • Provide expert level quality management support services to enable effective decision making and delivery of sound quality business outcomes across operational activities at Milvehcoe;
  • Mentor/ guide Quality Officers and senior project staff in the effective use of quality management systems and tools;
  • Assist the development and implementation of a business management system (set minimum operational quality assurance guidelines) as it relates to operational assurance requirements and processes, leading operational quality input;
  • Prepare quality reports (around quality performance, kpi’s, risks and quality compliance) and attend relevant management meetings providing support and direction in guiding operations to meet and exceed project quality requirements;
  • Support or attend business unit and project level management system review meetings, including Project level reviews (PRM), customer reviews and project review;
  • Support and monitor the internal audit program as it relates to operational scope of activities, planning/ performing/ reporting/ following-up and resolving quality problems as relevant, in particular the program to verify and assure operational controls and process verification;
  • Create, maintain, review and release through the IMS team operational quality documents to be effectively integrated within the RDA business management system;
  • Defining quality management and quality assurance standards within projects for RDA, and supporting effective and sustainable implementation of quality controls therefor with the project and operational teams;
  • Evaluation of customer requirements and definition / management of project quality requirements in order to fulfil customer requirements, through team of PQE’s;
  • Planning and managing inspection and auditing to assure that an acceptable level of build quality is maintained/ achieved for the vehicles & assemblies RDA is responsible for, including verifying and collating the content of Vehicle Log Books, FATs and other such methods used to manage and demonstrate manufacturing quality;
  • Responsible for the development and management of all Control Plans and related inspection documents for all RDA projects (PAP and PA suite of documents);
  • Coordination of Quality input and participation in all RDA bid teams; and
  • Ensuring that vehicles and assemblies have the appropriate records within their Log Books or Handover records (and/or similar methodologies) with all approvals & consents prior to entry into service.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes: 

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (Degree in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering, or other Exact Science degree)
  • Recognised formal training in Quality
  • Work experience (10 years) in quality assurance in comparable industry
  • Understanding of the ISO 9000 familiarity and NATO Allied Quality Assurance Publications
  • Highly developed stakeholder management skills and experience working with senior management, technical experts, etc. where customised solutions and a consultancy based approach are key
  • Good IT knowledge, particularly of SAP QM
  • Ability to travel interstate and internationally when required
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (must hold Australian Citizenship).
