About the Role

The Financial Business Analyst - Corporate Controlling is responsible for the preparation of key deliverables including the monthly closure, annual budget, operating expenditure, the long term financial strategy, and monthly/quarterly and annual reports. The role is directly responsible for financial management of RDA’s cost centers and also an individual business division’s financial reporting and planning process.

As Financial Business Analyst – Corporate Controlling, you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:

Management Accounting

  • Support the development, communication and monitoring of RDA’s Planning Framework which encompasses of cost/Project planning and budget timeframes, objectives, performance measures, and the adoption of the budgets; and
  • Provide support and advice to operational departments relating to actuals, budgets, and forecasts; challenge status quo for achieving cost efficiencies and better business outcome

Budgets & Planning

  • Assist in providing support and advice to the organization in preparing forecasts and budgets within the prescribed timelines;
  • Liaise with Cost Centre Managers on their performance against budget and provide specialist financial management advice on budget control and forecast outcomes;
  • Provide ongoing training and support to staff on budgeting and reporting system;
  • Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of RDA’s Long Term Financial Plan and its strategic and operational objectives;

Reporting & Forecasting

  • Support the production of quarterly and monthly cost performance reports and forecasts including detailed exception analysis;
  • Contribute to the development of the monthly reporting regime, quarterly performance reports, and the Annual Report;
  • Undertake regular budget variance reviews to ensure on-going corporate budget control;

General

  • Review, develop, and implement financial systems, processes, financial models, and reports to provide reliable and useful financial information for the various departments and management;
  • Drive continuous operational improvements within the finance team, including identifying ways to better leverage the systems, improving the speed and automation of financial data capture, reconciliation, reporting and analysis;
  • Other duties and responsibilities that may be required as determined with your manager from time to time.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes: 

Required:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance / Accounting / Commerce or related disciplines;
  • Strong knowledge of costing/management accounting practices;
  • Good knowledge of financial accounting and the interrelation of financial statement;
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, PnL reporting and financial modelling;
  • Experience in development of financial reports and analysis;
  • Experience of preparing PowerPoint slides for management reporting
  • Advanced MS Office skills i.e. Excel, PowerPoint; and
  • Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required).

Desirable:

  • CA or CPA qualified or working towards the qualification;
  • Previous experience working in a Financial Planning and Analysis, Overhead Management or Management Accounting team for a large and project based organization.
  • Experience working with a range of ERP systems across Finance, BI, data analytics and/ or planning and performance management i.e. SAP
  • Defence industry experience.
