WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

About the Team

Reporting to the Quality Manager Operations, this role will work alongside a team of 8 Quality Assurance Officers. The greater Quality team is continuing to expand and also includes, Planning, Audit, IMS and Supplier Quality teams. This role will be based in Redbank at our Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence (MILVEHCOE).

About the Role

The Quality Assurance Officer – Electronics is responsible for supporting the quality processes required for electrical and electronic assembly integration, final delivery and vehicle/platform integration and provision of support services to the Commonwealth of Australia. This includes conducting quality inspections as per defined checklists, standard operating procedures and the relevant RDA quality procedures.

The Quality Assurance Officer is responsible for ensuring manufactured products meet the defined standards of quality, reliability & performance as well as to oversee related record keeping, and management report generation.

As Quality Assurance Officer – Electronics, you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:

The general and generic duties of the Quality Assurance Officer include, but not limited to:

  • Perform routine visual, dimensional and functional inspections and objective tests for incoming parts, in-process production and finished goods;
  • Participating in supplier part quality inspections and audits (on site) to assure acceptable part build quality;
  • Collaboratively conduct sub-assembly inspection and review activities to assure compliance with defined vehicle build and finish quality standards and requirements;
  • Ensure that all products have been tested per requirements and fall within standards while meeting customer requirements, measured to specifications and within tolerances;
  • Document and report inspection findings and results and monitor corrective actions to inspection findings within specified timeframe;
  • Assist in identifying Non-Conforming product and documenting all identified Non-Conformances thoroughly with sufficient detail to allow independent parties to action dispositions and follow quarantine processes;
  • Act as a focal point for quality assurance queries and provide training to the Production and Warehouse team members on quality assurance subjects when directed;
  • Raise Corrective Action Requests (CAR) and ensure preventive actions are completed within the specified periods; and
  • Maintain and update quality assurance instructions, guides, and other relevant documented materials within RDA’s Quality Management System as they relate to quality inspection activities.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes: 

  • Electronics or Electrical Engineering trade qualification
  • Experience in a Quality Control/Quality Assurance role delivering complex platforms/systems in a highly regulated industry such as defence, automotive and/or aviation;
  • Internal or external audit or inspection experience;
  • Demonstrated experience in IPC-A-620 Acceptability of Electronic Assembly;
  • Knowledge of SAP system in Quality and Production modules;
  • Demonstrated experience in Quality Management principles;
  • Ability to read and interpret standards, engineering drawings and customer specifications;
  • Lean Manufacturing experience including proven ability with Root Cause Analysis Techniques;
  • Demonstrated experience with 8D and A3 tools; and
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (must hold Australian Citizenship).
