WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Lead Lab Prototyping activities and support other Lab functions such as: calibration, development, and warranty analysis activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage (plan) and lead prototype builds: lead all activities required from prototype order receipt to shipment of final assemblies (including but not limited to: build and testing fixtures, control plans, coordinating external labs for certification of customer drawing dimensions, …), with the support of Test Engineers and/or Technicians, assigned by the Lab Manager.
- Manage parts procurement for prototype builds (manage prototype supply base, purchase requisitions, timing, and logistics of purchased/sold parts, manage goods receipt, invoices, shippers, …).
- Hands on capability to assemble mechanical components.
- Good presentation skills (to introduce or lead Customer or Management visits to the lab and lead Prototype meetings).
- Manage/organize/track parts inventory levels for prototype builds.
- Secure access to test benches for performance testing of prototypes by coordinating with the Team Lead, Lab Operations.
- Secure the support of Technicians and Test Engineers, assigned by the Lab Manager.
- Support expansion of prototyping capabilities: coordinate all activities required to expand prototyping capabilities for all established Power Systems NA products.
- Support purchasing of outside services and equipment (write technical specifications, write purchase requisitions, support sourcing) as needed to expand and secure prototyping activities.
- Support design verifications and product validations (DV/PV) by managing relevant sample builds or procurement, according to the Team Lead, Lab Operations’ needs.
- Ensure compliance of procedures and documents into the Quality Management System within Power Systems Lab operations, with the support of the Team Lead, Lab Operations.
- Support the Team Lead, Lab Operations in the tracking and monitoring of available resources (heads and benches), to secure all prototyping activities.
- Support and manage correlation of benches and processes with competence centers in Europe applicable to prototyping activities.
- Support engineering in the development of product improvement concepts or cost reduction activities.
- Support warranty analysis, calibration, and testing activities as required.
- Act as a backup to the Team Lead, Lab Operations.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
- Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electric/Electronics and at least 6 years’ experience in testing of powertrain or automotive components OR 2 years’ experience in a program or project manager role or development engineer role.
- Basic knowledge of automotive components prototyping.
- Basic knowledge of automotive quality standards and processes.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of mechanical drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Project.
- Willingness to travel as needed and to work abroad for training purposes.
