About the Team

Located in Redbank in Ipswich, the project quality engineering team is responsible to ensure that product aligns to contractual requirements and specification.    

About the Role

The Project Quality Engineer is responsible to implement project plans and quality management plans to ensure that product complies with quality, technical specification and contractual requirements.

Evaluate engineering specifications to develop and maintain quality inspection plans and related inspection documentation. Lead or participate in cross functional teams to ensure built in quality (PFMEA and production readiness reviews).

Providing expert level, professional capability and support in quality management to the business on complex and critical quality issues to meet operational requirements and ensure compliance with applicable standards, regulations and other requirements.

As Project Quality Engineer, you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:

  • Evaluation of customer requirements and definition of project quality requirements in order to fulfil customer requirements;
  • Develop and maintain product specific Quality Plans, Inspection and Control Plans, Test & Inspection Plans, etc., as relevant and required by Contract and Defence requirements and Standards;
  • Conduct and manage Failure Management, Deviation Management and Complaint Management across the L400 and associated projects assigned to, including coordination with EU based Rheinmetall Entities and key suppliers;
  • Track the inspection, surveillance and records collation activities on individual vehicles and modules, and facilitate progressive assurance reviews with relevant stakeholders, including CoA representatives and key global suppliers;
  • Inspection and auditing to provide assurance that an acceptable level of build quality is maintained/ achieved for the vehicles, including verifying and collating the content of the Vehicle Log Book and other such methods used to manage and demonstrate manufacturing quality and compliance to Requirements;
  • Planning, coordination and conduction of vehicle and module Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT); and
  • Analyse quality, operational data, inspection reports and other performance data to identify quality improvement needs and systemic concerns.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes: 

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (Degree in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or other Exact Science degree)
  • Recognised formal training in Quality (CQE, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, degree, etc.)
  • Trained in using advanced quality tools and techniques
  • Work experience (at least 3 years) in quality assurance in comparable industry
  • Comprehensive understanding of ISO 9000 and AQAP family of standards
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (must hold Australian Citizenship).
