RDA Production and Manufacturing Engineering
The RDA Operations team will plan and conduct production tasks out of the MILVEHCOE facility at Redbank, QLD. As part of the set-up and ongoing operation of that facility there are a range of tools, machines, and equipment that are specific to the Operations business.
RDA Manufacturing Engineer
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the specification of all tooling, machinery, plant and equipment to support the current and future operational requirements of the MILVEHCOE Production facility. They will lead the project management of equipment specification, budget development, procurement, installation and commissioning for both new and modified items. During operation the Manufacturing Engineer will support the facilities, safety and quality teams to complete and revise maintenance planning to ensure machine efficiency, availability, quality and safety meet operational targets. Additionally, they will support the facilities team in the development and administration of all the required documentation for these assets.
The general and generic duties of the Manufacturing Engineer include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the design, specification and budget development for new manufacturing processes for the RDA work centres/sites by considering product design, quality, productivity, process safety and other program requirements.
- Lead Production Failure Mode and Effect Analysis processes for new production processes.
- Improve existing production systems by analysing planning, work flows, production bottle-necks, and costs. Create and execute plans for agreed process improvements.
- Complete Statement of Works (SOWs) for new and modified tooling, machines, and equipment. Support the RDA procurement process with technical direction and schedule management for these items.
- Lead the project management of equipment specification, procurement, installation and commissioning for both new and modified items to all cost, quality, productivity, safety and schedule targets.
- Complete OEE, Gauge R&R and Capability studies to ensure tools and machinery deliver results in accordance with required standards.
- Support the collection and analysis of performance data and complete supporting management reports.
- Support the training and ongoing support of Production teams to ensure compliance to operating instructions and quality requirements, especially with regards to tooling and equipment operation.
- Analyse Product Change Notices for manufacturing equipment impacts and provide feedback to the Change Management system. Manage the successful implementation of approved changes.
- Support facilities and quality teams to create maintenance & calibration planning documentation and support the work centres with the completion of maintenance where required.
- Participate with root cause analysis and investigation of production problems. Work collaboratively with cross functional departments to identify and implement solutions.
- Maintain and develop high quality relationships with the international Rheinmetall production teams to share information and lessons learned;
- Ensure compliance with RDA’s Health, Safety & Environment Policy requirements, Lead risk assessment processes for all new plant, tooling & equipment and or changes thereof and in general take any reasonable steps and precautions to protect or minimise harm to the workplace, its employees and the environment; and
- Fulfil other duties and responsibilities that may be required as determined with your manager from time to time.
Required:
- 3 years Minimum experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role.
- Degree Qualified in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Proficient in all aspects of mechanical engineering design for plant and machinery related to Heavy Vehicle Production
- Proficient in 3D component design, packaging, and layout using Catia, NX, or similar CAD application.
- Experience managing the specification and operation of manufacturing facilities, tools, plant & equipment to the requirements of AS4024 Safety of Machinery
- Trades & Contractor Management experience in high risk work environments
- Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma Green Belt
- Availability to travel to other Rheinmetall sites including Germany for durations of up to 10-12 weeks.
Desirable:
- Manufacturing process experience utilising Overhead gantry cranes and associated lifting systems to the requirements of AS2550, AS1418
- 5 years Minimum experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role.
- Degree Qualified in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Overhead Bridge and Gantry high risk licence
- Forklift licence LF
- Heavy Vehicle or Defence Vehicle operating licences
- Six Sigma Black Belt
