Head of Department Mission Functions Tactical Vehicles (m/f/d)

In the position of Head of Department (m/f/d) for Mission Function, you will work in the field of development of modern tactical land vehicles from logistic trucks to tactical wheeled and tracked vehicles to main battle tanks. Based on customer requirements, your specialist department designs various assemblies and integrates them into the various platforms. This mainly involves Pioneer / Recovery devices, the integration of optical / optronic systems and the overall ergonomic design, including the design of seats and workstations. You are responsible for ensuring that the work of all specialist teams and departments involved in the development of the assemblies is optimally coordinated and that the department continues to develop in these areas and integrates them into the overall system.

• Technical and disciplinary management of the Mission Functions department with several locations in the areas of ergonomics, optical integration, optronic systems as well as pioneer and recovery systems
• Coordination of the development teams to fulfill the project goals
• Overall technical responsibility for the systems, subsystems, assemblies and components supported
• Technical development of the department and its employees, including the strategy for the department
• Technical advice and support for system development in the design of systems
• Coordination of development orders on the basis of specifications
• Preparation of offers for development orders
• Interdisciplinary management of development orders at assembly and subsystem level
• Cross-departmental coordination of development orders at assembly and subsystem level in the tendered area
• Management of external subcontractors
• Capacity, schedule and budget planning and control

• Completed university degree (Dipl.-Ing. / M.Sc. / Wi-Ing.) in the fields of mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanics or mechatronics or comparable disciplines
• Experience in the technical and disciplinary management of development teams
• Several years (at least 8 years) of professional experience in the development of mechanical assemblies and integration of calculation components at various companies
• Several years of experience in the management and cooperation of external development partners and suppliers
• Strong technical understanding and quick comprehension skills
• Creativity, independence and ability to work in a team as well as structured thinking skills
• Automotive experience is an advantage
• Confident written and spoken English skills
• Good knowledge of CAD programs (preferably Siemens NX) and product management systems
• Good knowledge of SAP
• Good knowledge of MS Office
• Willingness to travel
