Rheinmetall at Eurobike 2019
Rheinmetall presents an innovative drive system for e-bikes
The Rheinmetall Group was represented by its subsidiary Amprio at Eurobike – the world's biggest bicycle trade fair – in September as an exhibitor. Rheinmetall presented its innovative drive system for e-bikes in Friedrichshafen at Lake Constance. The Track System is a complete system consisting of a motor, battery, HMI & connectivity.
The Track System
The 48-volt motor is compact and developed for e-mountain bikes in the high-end performance segment. In addition, the quiet motor is also designed for e-trekking bikes. The corresponding battery packs are available in two different sizes.
As a system supplier for complete e-bike systems, Rheinmetall offers a customer-oriented service concept consisting of service, training and hotline. In addition, the company is working on a comprehensive offering in the area of connectivity and bike intelligence. The prototype phase started successfully with the first customers at the beginning of the year.
Numerous e-bike manufacturers expressed interest in the drive system presented at Eurobike. Rheinmetall will be organising test drives for potential customers starting in October in order to demonstrate the drive's performance capabilities.
The start of series production for the system is scheduled for mid-2021.
New player for the pedelec market
Founded in 2016, the Rheinmetall Group company is thus a new player in the rapidly expanding market for electric drives for pedelecs. The company brings along the group's decades of experience and expertise in the field of electric motors from the automotive industry.
As of 1 October 2019, Amprio GmbH has been assigned to the Aftermarket Division of Rheinmetall Automotive as an independent company. Thanks to its experience in international sales, service and technical market support, the Aftermarket Division offers the best conditions for developing the business segment and for the market launch of further applications in the two-wheeler industry.
