From March 2021, Rheinmetall Aviation Services will operate two maintenance docks at the Luftwaffe's Helicopter Squadron 64 at the Diepholz site. We look forward to a successful cooperation with the Luftwaffe and hope to contribute to increasing the availability of the CH-53G.

Rheinmetall Aviation Services GmbH, which is also based in Bremen, was founded at the beginning of 2019 as part of the Group’s strategic cooperation with Sikorsky in the Heavy Transport Helicopter (STH) procurement programme, with responsibility for maintenance, repairs, training and documentation. Rheinmetall and Sikorsky have been cooperating together intensively in various procurement projects since 2009.

The US helicopter manufacturer is bidding for the production and operation of the Sikorsky CH-53K (King Stallion) as the Bundeswehr’s new heavy-lift helicopter. Sikorsky formed a German industrial team early on and ensured that the expertise of local partners was incorporated directly into its bid. A large part of the added value of the project will be generated in Germany. The German CH-53K team is led by Rheinmetall. Other team members include Autoflug, Collins Aerospace, Hensoldt, HYDRO Systems, MTU Aero Engines, Rohde & Schwarz, Vincorion, ZFL and Reiser. The German-US CH-53K team is the prerequisite for a successful STH program and ensures high availability of the helicopter as well as reliable support and maintenance - throughout the entire service life of the helicopter.
