About the Team

This role will be based at the Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence – MILVEHCOE, Redbank. This will be a fantastic opportunity to work within a fast paced, collaborative team of professionals.

About the Role

The Head of Manufacturing Operations is responsible for leading specialist teams for defence / engineering projects, to production schedules. With a background in manufacturing, ideally with ASDEFCON experience, this role works closely with Project Teams, Supply Chain, Quality, Safety and Service and other key stakeholders, collaborating to deliver projects to agreed milestones.

This role manages a large Production Team and has responsibility for business planning, workforce planning and allocation, operational safety, people leadership and production delivery to contract specifications.

  • Tertiary qualifications at bachelor or certificate level, or equivalent, relevant to mechanical matter (Eng, Mech etc);
  • LEAN, TQM, Kaizen, 6-Sigma or equivalent, applied in Production Assembly Facility; and
  • Experince with delivering ASDEFCON contracts highly regarded.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes: 

  • Proven track record in Manufacturing environment delivering on milestones
  • Experience in Project Management within Defence / Engineering projects or other related operational execution disciplines;
  • Experience leading multi-specialist teams including matrixed and multi-functional teams;
  • Proven ability to contribute to strategic planning, business planning and resource deployment, business processes improvement and budget ownership;
  • Experience in managing proposals, estimates and technical documents;
  • Ability to travel internationally and domestically when required; and
  • Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required).
